A watershed education project located in the Pedlar River watershed of western Amherst County, VA.
Amherst County is proposing a residential waste collection center to be constructed within 100 yards of the Pedlar River, just downstream of Pedlar Mills. While this is a necessary development, it must be designed with state-of-the-art water quality protection features. Current law won’t require the County to do this. So they need to hear from residents. Please contact the Board of Supervisors in Amherst County to express your support for a site that goes above and beyond county codes and state law to really PROTECT THE PEDLAR RIVER!

The Pedlar River Institute helps bring people into close contact with the waterways that sustain us. Our free, hands-on programs, based in the riparian forests and streams of western Amherst County, inspire and educate residents to become responsible stewards of the rich and diverse natural resources in this special part of Virginia.
As an all-volunteer organization, we depend on the generosity of people who care about our children's future, and who want to keep our waterways healthy.
